Professor Andy McIntosh discusses the scientific discoveries of Faraday, in particular the most well known of his discoveries which is the connection between magnetism and electricity. He shows from Faraday's writings and lectures, his deep convictions concerning his faith in Christ as Creator and Saviour. Faraday rose from being a bookbinder to becoming one of the most well known scientists of the nineteenth century. His rise to prominence did not cause him to doubt his faith in God and he quoted fearlessly in his lectures the Word of God. He drew particular attention to Romans 1:20 "...the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen being understood by the things that are made..." Professor McIntosh shows that Michael Faraday taught that his science led him to proclaim the evidence of God's design, and that he humbly submitted himself to God as his Creator and Redeemer.
The talk ends with a brief discussion of thermodynamics, and the principles that govern the molecular machinery in every cell of living systems, some of which use the very same principle of the electrically driven motor discovered by Faraday.
Andy McIntosh is Professor of Thermodynamics at Leeds University (although appearing here in a personal capacity) and shows that, contrary to the view of many evolutionists, the principles of thermodynamics are against any idea that the machinery of life could build itself. The science inexorably points to the Creator who has left His mark on that which He has made.
